Castle Point Borough Council
Castle Point Borough Council covers the towns of Canvey Island, Hadleigh, South Benfleet & Thundersley. As of 2024 the borough is split into 13 wards which elect 3 Councillors to represent residents. The council recently moved to all out elections, meaning that all 39 seats will be elected once every 4 years, which started in 2024.
Should any one party obtain 20 or more councillors out of the 39 available, they will have a majority and will have control of the council. If no party achieves a majority, the council is said to have No Overall Control and a power sharing agreement can be arranged between parties.
