Youth Opportunities

Our schools do a great job. However, once out of school, our young people need safe places to play, socialise and develop their skills. We will:

  • Invest in the creation of more youth groups/centres
  • Create a wider range of activities so there is something for everyone
  • Provide role models for our young people to work with

Mental Health

Mental Health support for our young people, and for everyone, is a priority for Labour. Recent events have brought to the forefront how important adequate care in this respect is for all of us. Our children and young people have suffered throughout and we now need to support them wherever there is a need so that they can live happy, healthy lives.

The stigma around Mental Health still exists and Labour will continue work to break down the barriers so that those who need help can access it and feel comfortable in seeking it out themselves.

Standing Up for our Young People

Spending on teenagers and young adults has been cut by a 60% on average under successive Conservative governments, it has been revealed.

Youth centres are going under and the majority of children most in need are being denied the extra support they need to make up for lost learning during the coronavirus crisis.
